The device to control and adjust the temperature of the laser (TEC cooler controller)

A 10 Watt+ Laser. A New Improved Laser Attachment

The device is designed to control and adjust the temperature of the laser by controlling the Peltier elements (TEC cooling). Also, blocking the switching on of the laser when the temperature of the laser diode reaches more than 45 degrees Celsius.

A temperature of +20 degrees Celsius is selected for the middle operating point.
Jumpers Laser 1,2 Temp Min set the threshold for turning off the Peltier elements from +18 degrees to +12 degrees with a step of -2 degrees
The Laser 1,2 Temp Max jumpers set the threshold for turning on the Peltier elements from +22 degrees to +28 degrees with a step of +2 degrees.

It also provides protection against switching on the laser when the temperature reaches +45 degrees.
In this case, laser diodes 1 and 2 are switched off and the Temp Alarm Laser 1 and / or 2 is activated, depending on which channel the laser diode has overheated.
The Peltier element in the channel in which the overheating has occurred is turned on at full power, and only when the temperature reaches 35 degrees, the laser diodes 1 and 2 are turned on.
Further, lasers and Peltier elements operate normally, depending on the temperature settings.
To ensure the blocking of heat transfer from the hot side of the Peltier element to the cold one and vice versa, the Peltier elements are smoothly switched off by a PWM signal with a frequency of 5KHz with a duty cycle from 100% to 0% or 0% to 100% for 20 seconds.
The board for controlling and monitoring the operation of the laser and the Peltier elements is installed in close proximity to the laser and the Peltier element.

A general diagram of all connections and elements of adjustment and control is shown in Figure 1

The figure shows all connections, configuration and control methods.
The control and adjustment device can operate in several modes and control both 1 or 2 laser diodes and 1 or 2 Peltier elements, which can be used in the entire line of endurance lasers.

The simplest option is to control the excess of the operating temperature of the laser diode. Upon reaching 45 degrees, the laser diode will turn off until the temperature drops to +35 degrees.

This option is applicable in any laser that does not have Peltier elements in the cooling and there is no control over the laser temperature rise.

The next option is used in a system with one laser diode and one Peltier element.

The option of connecting the control board to a system with one diode and two Peltier elements is shown in Figure 4. This option is suitable for the pro version of endurance lasers.

It is also possible to use this circuit when connecting 2x less powerful power supplies (not recommended)

To control and protect the new line of endurance 15W lasers, it is possible to connect and control 2 laser diodes and 2 Peltier elements for them to the board.

When either of the two laser diodes reaches 45 degrees, both will turn off until the temperature of the overheated diode decreases to +35 degrees. The channel of the overheated diode can be identified by the Temp Laser Alarm 1 or Temp Laser Alarm 2 indicators
It is also possible to use this circuit when connecting 2x less powerful power supplies (not recommended)
